This added traction is vital for safety. Toe guards, forefoot rock plates, and Gore-Tex or waterproof breathable uppers protect your feet against impact, sharp debris, and wet and unpredictable weather. Like road running shoes, trail running shoes are divided into four categories: motion control, stability, neutral (or cushioning), and minimalist. Some trail shoes offer added medial posting or cushioning for particularly harsh off-road running. The Transition to Trail Running One of the OGs that started the Boost craze, the adidas Pure Boost. I actually own two pairs of Pure Boost so I can tell you first-hand how amazing these shoes are.
I wish adidas would have played a little more with the uppers and added some more graphics and prints. Still a really dope shoe regardless. You probably saw lot of NBA players rock the CrazyLight Boost 2015 this past postseason. The additions of Boost technology on basketball sneakers revolutionized the game and now it should be a requirement on all new adidas hoops kicks. I’m sure James Harden’s signature shoe will use Boost technology. One of the newer silhouettes on this list, the adidas Y-3 Retro Boost is part of the Y-3 x adidas collaboration. The shoe features a combination of suede, synthetic overlays and a neoprene upper. The chunky Boost midsole is a good look and surely makes this one of the most comfortable Y-3 sneakers ever made. The only problem is the $350 price tag. Another new addition to the adidas Boost family is the Solar Boost. adidas calls it “a stylish running shoe with Boost technology placed in the heel and an “s” curve construction for ultimate comfort and responsiveness.”
Some cool and unique features of the Solar Boost include a a laser-etched midsole with a color fade for depth and visual interest, TechFit uppers, and a heel to midfoot lock-down fit system that provides a smooth transition. And to make things even better it’s very affordable at just $100. The ZX 8000 Boost is probably the most stylish sneaker on the list. As you can see from the colorway above, adidas found a way to create a comfortable Boost sneaker with a vibrant upper that features colorful graphics/prints. Even though Boost is only featured in the heel, I’m sure this sneaker is still VERY comfy. How many of you remember this shoe? The crazy thing is that no one had probably even heard of this shoe before Kanye wore it. Crazy what “influencers” do to us man. The second Y-3 addition to the list is the new QR boost. This new lifestyle from Y-3 and adidas is composed of a neoprene and premium leather upper to combine fashion and function. This black, white and red colorway is also one of the nicest that we’ve seen.
Just like most Y-3 sneakers, these won’t come cheap as they retail for $410. Derrick Rose is ready to get back to MVP form this year and we’ll hopefully be seeing a lot of the D Rose 6 this season if he manages to stay on the court. There may be some mixed reviews on the D Rose 6, but the more I see it the more I like it. I’m sure once more colorways release the shoe will look even better. Now if only the J Wall and D Lillard also featured Boost technology. The adidas Y-3 Desert Boost is the most casual-ready silhouette out of the bunch. You can get by with rocking these to a night out on the town without people giving you funny looks for choosing to wear sneakers. The chukka/boot look is nice and the use of premium suede and minimal branding makes them very versatile. Definitely a dope “going out” shoe if you’re looking to switch things up a bit. Perhaps the most popular Boost sneaker right now (not counting the Yeezys), the adidas Ultra Boost continues to release in different colorways to please its large fan-base.
