We are leaving for Ireland on October 8th and will be there for two weeks traveling counterclockwise to Dublin, Cork, Killarney, Doolin and back to Dublin (basically). We are thinking the weather will be cool but we're still confused as to what to bring for clothes. I am traveling with my mother and every time we go to Europe the weather is never what we planned for.

It is frustrating to say the least. We like to pack light so guessing what the weather will be like is important. I guess my question is this....will it be sweater weather in October? We both live in Southern states and it is hot where we live so cooler temps are even cooler for us. The weather websites say 50-60 degrees which could be warm or cold. A UNESCO World Heritage listed site, Newgrange is a Neolithic Ritual Centre and Passage Tomb, home of some of the greatest pieces of art of the European Neolithic, Ireland’s most significant prehistoric monument and among the world’s earliest great pieces of architecture.

One of Ireland’s two United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites: Brú na Bóinne – Archaeological Ensemble of the Bend of the Boyne. This monument is a thousand years older than the Pyramids and the oldest astronomical observatory in the world, completely intact since the Stone Age. Its decorated entrance stone and corbelled inner chamber display the most impressively executed examples of abstract Stone Age art of the early farming communities in Western Europe. These sophisticated early farmers were Astronomers who incorporated a light box and solar calendar into the passage. This was done to illuminate the cremated bones of the dead in the inner chamber during the Winter Solstice. It was also a symbolic technique to celebrate rebirth in the afterlife and the dawning of a new year. Please note: My tour enters the Tomb at Newgrange.
